Portfolio Project: Progress and Changes

 I ended up making the film opening incorrectly! I had a discussion in class with my teacher who brought me to the attention that I had created a trailer. This was a very bad mistake since I now need to rerecord most of the film opening scenes. I am brainstorming a new plot once again to try and make the film opening make sense. I am to start rerecording by the end of this week for sure.

Today I was editing the video and was happy with how it looks. Also, I have updated the storyboard. Attached below is my previous storyboard along with the extra part of it, which is updated.

During our training time, my coach allowed me to record for the project. I discussed with her what my plan was and how we were going to execute it, timewise. The recording took no longer than 45 minutes, to get multiple recordings of each shot, and some videos for Foley sounds which may or may not be used. There was a crowd of people in the gym due to normal scheduled practice of other teams, which sets the setting nicely of a gym where athletes are training. I am happy with how the recordings turned out, and hope the final product looks as good as I hope for.

 Today I have gotten the consent to record the children who will be playing the role of the younger versions of the main character. The children are 9 and 13 years old, which serve as a good age range of the progression of the character throughout his life. I have spoken with them, and we plan to record on Friday, March 26th. I will update again once the recording is completed.

 I have completed making my story board which represents how I would like to record the film opening. I plan on having a voiceover of the main character, while the video shows him progressing in life, in this sport. By the end of the film opening, it will leave suspense to the viewers, as they will see him get hurt and wonder what is to happen next.

     Now that I have a more organized plot set for my film opening, I am going to begin to work on my storyboard. I will begin this next week, along with filming the week following. I feel as if I am in a much better headspace than I was at before. I am confident in making this project become a reality now.

     In my last posting, I explained ho I felt about my current situation in my project. I feel quite unorganized and not sure of what to do. I have been brainstorming some new ideas, and have looked for inspiration through different films. 

    I believe I have created a new plot that will be much easier to follow, as well as it is now organized well. The story will start off as when a boy was enrolled into a gymnastics summer camp. This was his favorite place to be, and he enjoyed to come here every summer for fun. One year, he was recognized by a coach who specialized in the gymnastics division of Trampoline and Tumbling. He asks this 10 year old if he would be interested in joining, as he can see this kid has a passion for doing flips and summersaults. 

    This child will start training with the team, and stays there for years. The opening will them show this kid 7 years later; He is now 17 years old and has a dedication to go to the Olympics. He continues to train hard, and is pushed to the limit by his coach. At one point, he is pushed so hard in his training that he eventually gets a spinal fracture in an accident, preventing him from practicing... Will he ever be able to train again as he did before, to go to the Olympics?

 Recently I have been feeling a bit different on what I think on my original idea for my project. The plot does not seem good enough and I am honestly not sure what to record. My idea seems a bit unorganized, so I am going to try to plan out something a bit new, and make sure that it makes more sense for the final product. I am still brainstorming on how to commit to making these changes currently. I will update soon.
